BEACH MINIS
It's the perfect time to get out with your best friend for some photos at the beach. I love photographing dogs running and splashing through the water.
These photos are from a recent session. This beautiful young German Shepherd had never seen the beach before, so her first time was very exciting for her. Her mom wasn't sure if she'd even like the water. It was funny to see her first reactions to it, as pictured in the top right photograph. Those waves at first were scary. But I think it took her minutes to decide she liked it and was going in. Her mom was very pleased with her reactions to the water and how much fun she was having.
SPCA Fundraising
For the past few years I've been fortunate enough to do photo fundraising for the Cape Breton SPCA. I've gone to the Sydney shelter and taken pictures of dogs and cats that were available for adoption, but just needed that extra little touch to show off their personalities. One of those dogs was Cesar. He was a 17-year-old Cane Corso mix that had been living at the shelter for too long. With the assistance of the SPCA Cape Breton staff, along with the Cape Breton Post/Saltwire, Cesar found his forever home for the little time he had left. He became a star in that short time and was not only featured in the newspaper, but his story got picked up by the ATV news and the CBC National. People love a happy ending. Being a pet photographer allows me to give back or pay it forward by helping the Cape Breton SPCA and the animals in their care.
It's now that time of year to do one of my favorite things, Christmas pet photos at Pet Valu. I love watching the pet pawrents coming through the door with their dogs dressed in Santa Claus outfits and sporting nifty bowties and bandanas. They bring their pet out to get a photograph, but also to support the SPCA. Without all the people who love their pets, we couldn't do these fundraisers. I thank you all for dressing up your fur child and seating them in front of my camera!
